When the team at Be Me Day Nurseries began planning their Christmas party, the brief was simple: create a night where guests could relax, celebrate the year’s achievements and enjoy a truly memorable evening together. Live music was high on the priority list, and we were thrilled when they invited Anthem Function Band to bring the party to life.

Just outside the historic city of St Albans, Sopwell House is one of Hertfordshire’s most elegant country house hotels. Surrounded by beautiful grounds and winter greenery, it’s the kind of venue that instantly feels special, especially during the festive season when everything is dressed for Christmas.

The celebrations took place in the St Albans Suite, a stylish and spacious room ideal for corporate events. With guests dressed to impress and the band suited up in classic black tuxedos, the atmosphere was glamorous from the very beginning and created the perfect backdrop for a night of awards, great food and live entertainment.

A Festive Celebration in the Heart of Hertfordshire

Corporate Christmas parties are always a highlight in the events calendar, and this one had all the ingredients for an unforgettable evening. With tables set for dinner and a festive buzz already building around the room.

The evening’s schedule included a dinner service followed by an awards presentation recognising the incredible work done across the Be Me Day Nurseries team. To build the energy in the room before the awards began, the client asked us to perform a 30-minute live set between dinner and the presentation — a perfect way to shift the atmosphere from relaxed dining to full festive celebration.

Short, high-impact sets like this are a brilliant way to elevate a corporate event and Anthem guarantee to lift the mood of the evening, getting everyone fully involved.

A 9-Piece Function Band Designed for Big Events

For this Christmas party, we provided our 9-piece showband, one of our most popular line-ups for larger corporate celebrations. The band featured two vocalists, percussion, saxophone, trumpet and a full rhythm section, delivering a rich, powerful live sound that instantly fills the room.

Behind the scenes, we also supplied a dedicated professional sound engineer to ensure every detail, from the award presentations to the band itself, was crystal clear.

Alongside the live band performance, the client also made use of our complimentary laptop DJ service, which kept music flowing around the schedule of the evening.

Taking the Party to the Dance Floor

The night really got started as we began our 90 minute, non-stop party set. We love creating moments where the band becomes part of the crowd and with wireless microphones and instruments, our performers were able to move freely around the St Albans Suite, turning the performance into something truly interactive.

Our singers wandered between guests, encouraging sing-alongs and getting everyone involved, while our wireless guitar and saxophone players headed straight for the dance floor to join the party. Those moments, when musicians are suddenly right in the middle of the action, always bring a new level of energy to the room.

A Setlist Packed with Party Classics

The Be Me Day Nurseries team had some fantastic song choices, helping to shape a setlist that blended modern pop with classic party anthems.

Highlights included Wake Me Up, Levitating, This Is How We Do It and No Scrubs — a mix guaranteed to spark big reactions and plenty of dance floor moments.

With the band in full swing, guests looking glamorous and the room buzzing with festive energy, it was exactly what a corporate Christmas party should be: stylish, joyful and just a little bit wild by the end!

By the time the final song finished, the St Albans Suite was full of festive energy, with colleagues dancing, singing along and enjoying a well-earned moment to celebrate together. It was a fantastic Christmas party for the Be Me Day Nurseries team at Sopwell House, and exactly the kind of event we love being part of. They were absolutely brilliant!!

We recently had Anthem at our work Winter Party and Awards night. They were absolutely brilliant!! Well presented and easy to deal with through organisation to sound checks etc, very helpful and friendly. When it came to the event, by the end of the first set which was a chilled one over dinner, our team were all on the dancefloor loving it! The vocalists and wireless musicians were engaged with the crowd making it interactive and fun and everyone in the band was a professional level musician, together they sounded great! Nice options on set lists and a great overall sound, especially if like us you go for the 9 piece set up. Amazing night, great performances and we would definitely book them again. Thanks
